To Kick Things Off

Let me just start by making you aware of this life altering confusion that I can't seem to shake off: I really do not understand why people don't do more to try and help those in need. It doesn't even necessarily require money. There are soooo many ways that us fortunate people can give others a hand up, but it seems that too few people think about it, or even care. Some special people, however, take the time out of their surely busy lives to try and do something about it. This blog is dedicated to those individuals, and to making the world aware of easy and cheap ways they can help too.

In October 2007, John Breen created "Free Rice", a website where you take online quizzes and for every correct answer, the site donates 10 grains of rice to a poverty-ridden nation. The site affords this thanks to sponsors who donate to the site every time their banner appears after a correct answer. Try it here.
It's a pretty cool site, and I figure if everybody makes this their home page, then most people would donate at LEAST 100 grains of rice a day. That makes a difference. I'll leave you with a video about it, and you can see Free Rice actually being distributed in Bangladesh:
